In The Spotlight - Ashley Bucher

Meet Ashley Bucher – a project manager at MWA, and someone whose creative talents extend far beyond the work she does here every day.

Okay, let’s start with your creative interests. It sounds as though there are many!

When I’m not at work I love to paint and build furniture. I also have a passion for weaving tapestries.

If you didn’t work for MWA, what might you be doing instead?

I’d probably be doing something art-related. I really am passionate about art.

Tell us about your work for MWA.

I’ve been working here since 2020, ever since graduating with my Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University. I’m a project manager.

What do you enjoy about working for the firm?

I love working at MWA because I have the ability to have direct interaction with so many different building trades and I’m able to learn from so many people. I love the office culture because everyone brings their own perspective to the design.

Speaking of perspective, what’s one thing you think every house should have?

Every house needs creative storage solutions. We all have stuff and we all need places to put it. You can get creative about it, with well-designed built-ins and open shelving for display. But then you also need hidden storage to hide the items you don’t want to show.

You mentioned “stuff.” What’s the most meaningful “stuff” in your home?

That’s an easy one! The most meaningful thing in my home are my kitchen dishes. They were handed down to me from my grandmother, and make me think of her every time I use them.

And what about your coffee table – what's on it right now?

I’m obsessed with candles, so there are a few of them on my coffee table. Also, some coasters that I made.

Besides your artistic endeavors, anything else you enjoy doing outside of work?

I like to travel. I also love participating in any sports that are water-related. I grew up as a competitive swimmer, and I love to surf.
