Timeless by Design: A New Home That Honors the Past This project is a bit of a paradox—in the best way. The client had lived in the original home on this tight urban lot for over a decade. When it came time to build new, the goal wasn’t to stand out, but to blend in. In fact, he wanted the new house to look like it had always been there—maybe even the oldest one on the block

Location
Chicago, Illinois

At first glance, this home feels like a timeless part of the neighborhood—its traditionally detailed limestone façade gives it a stately, grounded presence, while the sides and rear in Chicago common brick nod to the city’s architectural DNA. But step inside and the story takes a modern turn.

Morgante Wilson Architects used a Quartzite for the kitchen island. The perimeter counter tops are Caesarstone. A custom metal hood is installed over the Wolf range. The appliances are covered with custom panels to hide them.
